Rights-based conflict resolution attempts to resolve conflicts with appeals to rights encoded in law, regulation, and policy. It determines outcomes by weighing claims against an official standard – not by what would be a satisfactory outcome, or by who can prevail. Grievance procedures, arbitration, litigation, and appeals to company policy are all rights-based approaches.
