Let’s Unthink This. And Rethink It.
You probably see collaboration and conflict as problems to be solved. They are – but they’re more.
Collaboration and conflict are situations with certain people, about some issue, in a time and place. You do your part to collaborate, and to prevent and resolve conflicts. And you should. Work depends on it.
But they’re also systems to be navigated. Currents running under and around the moment you and your colleagues are in, carrying you whether you notice them or not.
You’re not only on the outside looking in – you’re also on the inside of the things you try to foster and fix.
But there’s more. Collaboration and conflict are problems and systems you’re inside of – and they’re in you.
That disagreement with a colleague isn’t just happening between you – it’s happening in you. Being on the same page isn’t a page between you – it’s in you. If your experience of what’s happening is in you – not “out there” or in someone else – how you handle it starts in you.
And that’s where we’ll start. Not with changing other people, but with how you make your way through situations with them.
