Cue Method

« Back to Glossary Index

The Cue Method is a practice for exercising judgment in real time through four related activities: spotting cues as they occur, following cues to determine their significance, turning cues into conversations to develop understanding, and turning conversations into action informed by what emerges.

Although the activities have a natural order, they’re not fixed steps to be followed in sequence. In practice they’re iterative and recursive, looping back on each other as cues lead to information, and information leads to cues. The Cue Method doesn’t tell you what to do next as much as it tells you what to look for, and what to do with what you find, to deepen understanding when possible.
